First week in Neu-Ulm

So my first week in Neu-Ulm is over soon and it has been fun to hang out with the exchange students and tutor students each evening. Settling in here has been pretty easy so far with the help of our friendly tutor students.

I was lucky to get a room in the main building out of the four we have in the Wiley housing, which means that I have a more private kitchen shared with a roommate, but on the other hand we only have a stove for heating food. The other buildings have bigger kitchens, which are shared between all the tenants and are also equipped a bit more.

The other shared rooms such as laundry room and student bar are also located in the main building, which is more convenient to me of course. My roommate should be arriving at the start of October, so I have some time to get used to the new apartment on my own.

When I first arrived, I was immediately invited to meet up with a group of South Korean exchange students and their tutor students. They were having a shared dinner due to the Korean thanksgiving.

Got a little taste of kimchi. Tasty!

The student bar here is more like a livingroom furnitured with some sofas, a kicker table and of course the bar counter. The tutors have been keeping the room open for every evening this week, so there has been bunch of time to meet with the other tenants and some of their friends.

My arrival was on wednesday evening 18.9.2013 and our first daytime happening was this Sunday. We went on a guided city tour in Ulm:

That's about it for the first week! Next week we'll be getting our bus/train semester tickets, German bank accounts and start our three weeks of orientation. We will also be visiting the Oktoberfest on the upcoming Sunday!
